Mark made two contributions to the Blogger Cookie Exchange party, and he has graciously agreed to let me share his (original!) recipes. Mark is incredibly creative in the kitchen and makes up a bunch of cookie recipes (which I always end up testing…). While he doesn’t always get them right on the first try (who does?), he was incredibly successful with both of the recipes he came up with for the exchange.
These cookies balance the lightness of citrus with the intensity of dark chocolate. Overall, I’d say they’re a heavier cookie in taste – as in, you’ll likely only really want one (unlike the upcoming S’mores Cookies, I’ll tell you that.). This is not a bad thing. One is fantastic. Great for portion control.
I highly recommend you make these!
Orange Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

- 1 large egg
- zest of 2 oranges or 1 tsp orange oil
- 1 12-oz bag dark chocolate chips

Mix dry ingredients other than sugar in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and orange oil or zest. Add dry mixture to wet mixture and combine thoroughly. Spoon dough in balls onto baking sheet.
