Friday Fun: Inspiration

The theme of today’s post is this: Be your own inspiration.

At the beginning of February, I made this the background on my phone:

February was a month of ups and downs. Some really great things happened. Some really terrible things happened, too. I don’t want to lie to you.

At the beginning of February, I was going through the pictures on my phone and randomly came across this photo, which I’d taken in a store in Phoenicia back on New Year’s Eve. I decided to Instagram it and make it the background on my phone because, well, who doesn’t need a positive reminder every once in a while?

So, you know, things haven’t been perfect. But every time I look at my phone (which is a little too often, if I’m being honest), it’s been nice to have this little mantra at my service.

Friday Fun: Truth (and CHO Giveaway winner!)

Oh, guys. I’m sorry. Twice this week, I didn’t post.

I’m a jerk.

In my defense, I just. didn’t. have. time.

I’ll make it up to you, though. Promise.

And I’m even still kind of ruining it because my Friday Fun isn’t that fun this week. It is, however, something that means something to me that I want to share.

This is a clip from one of my favorite shows, “Brothers & Sisters,” which I only discovered last weekend while home sick. I haven’t stopped watching it in my free time (AKA when I should have been sleeping) since.

I’d like to share one of my favorite quotes from it today, as I feel it is extremely relevant in my life at the moment.

“The world is too fragile for people to be untrue. There’s too much at stake, and life’s too short for lies.”

So poignant, so beautiful, and so true.

Truth matters. Be true to yourself and be true to others. There’s no point in anything else.

Friday Fun: 25 Ways to Tie a Scarf

Friday Fun: SMASH

I can’t tell you how excited I am for SMASH, which premieres on NBC on Monday.

In fact, I haven’t been this excited for a show since Glee, which failed me so much that I refuse to watch even moments of it now.

Thankfully, I have no fear that SMASH will fail me. In fact, I’m pretty sure this show has the makings of a huge hit, both in terms of popularity and in terms of quality — no easy feat.

Friday Fun: Songs I’m Obsessed With Right Now

Seriously, just ask my neighbors (who probably hate me right now). I am completely obsessed with these songs. I cannot stop listening to them.

Song #1: Wild Ones by Flo Rida, featuring Sia

I love Sia so much. I love pop music that makes me dance. This song is perfection.

Song #2: Domino by Jessie J

I dance every time this comes on.

Yes, even at the gym. I’d probably be embarrassed if I wasn’t so busy having a good time.

Song #3: I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz

Bringing it down a bit with this one. It’s so beautiful. My friend Whitney sent me this. She knows me so well! She and I used to sing along to Jason Mraz in the car back when we were in high school, which feels… REALLY far away. Eesh.

And finally…

Song #4: Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars

I didn’t like this song at first, when Mark told me to listen to it. However, I now think it’s one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs, ever.

I cannot wait for The Hunger Games movie to come out! Can. Not. WAIT!
